The weather, though not generally; good at this season of the year, wa& exceptionally fine, and this fact, together with the circumstance of the day being a holiday, brought many visitors from all parts of the district, the number present exceeding the attendance at the recent meeting of either of the Waikato Jockey Clubs. The proceedings were enlivened by the Te Awamutu Band, under Mr Sibley, and in the matter of refreshments, this w ant was administered to by Mr Lewis, of the Central Waikato Hotel. The maner in which the various events were brought forwaid, no unnecessary time being allowed to elapse, reflects much ciedit on the stewards, and their secretary Mr Roche. The office of starter was discharged by Mr J. Watters, whose services gave general satisfaction. Mr Adams' totalisator was on the ground, and was fairly patronised, but otherwise there was % an entire absence of betting. These werevisitois from all parts of the district a good number having arrived by the train from the lower parts of the district. Mr C. Johnson, of Hamilton, made his initial appeaiance on a Waikato racecourse with a four-in-hand, which was well patronised. The fields being large and the competitors as a rule being well-known horses, much interest was manifested throughout, and this Avas not lessened by bad competitions. The hurdles Avas a gift for Mr Rutheifonl's old horse, who was on this occasion, handled well by Bond. The only accident that happened throughout the day, occured to the rider of JedAvater. Mr Laing, Avhose horse .'•truck the fourth hurdle throwing the rider and Avhilst on the ground kicked him. Mr Laing, liOAve'ver, did not appear much the Avorse for his accident. The steeplechase Avas a very exciting event, but owing to the nature of the eountiy, and theie being no pi o vision made for seeing the race, it is impossible to give a very detailed description. The majority of the horses cune to giief at the opening of the race, leaving Rally and Doctor to finish out. The Cup handicap a\ as a veiy good lace, King Quail, Stanley, and Ventuie, being the taroiuites. The Quail, howeA r er, was thought to be ovei weighted which pioved to be correct beeing the way Ventnre ran. The following is a more detailed account of the racing. Jl VNJDIUAP IHTRULE R \CK. Mr W.
