CAMBRIDGE TO WN BOARD.

Tiik usual monthjy meeting of tlia above board was held at the offices, Cambridge, on Monday evening last. There were present — Messrs T. Wells, (chairman) Kirkwood, Johnson, He.witt, and Nixon. - The usual preliminary business being disposed of, , Notice of explanation from Mr I Gwymieth, engineer, and Messrs Whitaker and Sheehan re their accounts' submitted at last meeting were read and accepted, the same being' considered satisfactory. The Chairman read from Gazette No. 33, that Cambridge had been gazetted under the "Town Districts Act, 1881," and that J. P. Mr Hewitt* ask the County Council at their first meeting for the sum of £150 towards the liquidation of the debt. It was resolved that Victoria-street be gravelled from Hamilton Koad corner to the town belt, the same to be carried out under the supervision of Mr Hewitt. The secretary was instructed to inform the engineer and surface man that their services would not be required by the present board after the 31st inst. Mr. Hewitt informed the board that the county council had, at its last meeting," handed over the'construction of the' Karapiro bridge to the town board. It was resolved that this matter remain in abeyance until the election of commissioners under the Town Districts Act, recommending them to have the work proceeded with at once. It was considered advisable that the board should meet again on Monday, June sth, when a balance-sheet would be prepared and audited to hand over to their succe&sois This was all the business.
