The Waikato Times Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mr Alvrkd Hucklamd's \Vi»kkly Ruport.— \t the Haymarkct, on Friday, May 12, there was i large supply ot fodder, meadow and oaten hay mnging from 2s Od to 5s 3d per cwt ; small loads, Sis to 89s ; and straw, 20s to 39s per load. There vas a large number of horses yarded, the majority >f which consisted of a superior stamp. < A conignment from Mr Crcss'well, of Canterbury, atractcd a great deal of attention.' They comsi- • cd of one of-tho best shipments of draughts that iavc been offered in the Auckland markets for 'ears past, and tho whole of which elicitcd^kecn :ompotition. They brought irom £25 10s to £59 iach ; averaging £39 all lound. Active medium Iraughts, £17 to £25 Ids ; light harness horses md hacTfs7£s tb"£l6; and several weight carryng hacks, from £17 to £25. At the Haymarket, m Tuesday, hides brought from 3id to 4d the lb.; ihecpskins, 2s to is 3d each ; inferior wool, sjd md (i|d the lb. At Pokeno, on Monday, a nodcratc supply of cattle met a fair sale, and the cgular monthly auctions arc likely to be a suc:ess. At Drury, on Wednesday, a small muster )f stock changed hands, but bidding was dull— iccounted for by the continuous wet weather. At tcmucra, on Thursday, dairy cattle were lumcrous and in good request, at late values, jtoro cattle in usual number, and yearling steers n fair demand, all other store stock at lower >alucs. Fat cattle in full numbers, but many of ndiffcrcnt quality; last week's values were scar:ely sustained, but priqes were irregular, and ranged from 18s to 22s the lOOlbs. Sheep were fairly supplied — well-bred ewes in demand — a pen of all ages brought 15s 9d each. Fat sheep at fully late values, prices ranged from 3d to S' 2 d the lb. Several pens of wethers brought from 22s to, 24s each. Lambs were scarcely represented, and dull of sale, and a better than usual supply'of well-bred pigs, of all ages, sold at lominal prices. Mhssks. Hunter and Noian's Wukki.y RePoKl.— Horses : The supply has been large, as is frequently the case. Shipborne horses excited principal attention, and local horses were difficult to dispose of at tho previous week's value. There was a large number entered at the Durham Yards, on l'riday, but very few of a really rood stamp. Fol aged horses and mares, bidding was slow, but there was an unsatisfied demand for really good horses. There was no noteworthy alteration in quotation. Cattle • The number offered ot every description has been nnusually large. Good dairy stock maintained their value, as did also well-bred stores, but young stock, displaying neglect both in bleeding and feeding, weie avoided, lhe Newmarket Yardj> were well filled on I'ucsd.iy. An unusu.illy large number of dairy cows were j.irded, but principally of an interior description. Stores wercplentiful. Several pens of calves, in low condition, were passed. Oilier descriptions unaltered in value. There were a large number of fat beasts yarded. The demand was steady throughout tho sale. We quote. Dairy rows, from £7 lOsi Od to £10 2s Od ; beet, from 20s to 23s Cd per lOOlbs. Sheep, lucre was a good market, but scarcely sufficient for requirements. Competition was steady throughout at 3d per lb for fat wethers. No stores yarded. Pigs were in limited supply, but prices low.
