An interesting presentation took place at Hamilton' East school' yesterday afternoon., [Miss 'Palmer, ' the assistant teacher, acting under medical advice, is giving up teaching, and the children desired to give her a parting token of tbeir affection. At the blose of the afternoon lessons, 1 (theischolars were' therefore mustered in the large room. The committee were represented by Messrs Dey and Harris, and some of the parents were present. 'Mr'Maberly explained the , object of , their gathering together, and an address from the children to Miss Palmer; was read) by Helena Ite Quesne, and Mary Houeybun, Jane, Davies, and Arthur Potter stepped forward and presented, a handkerchief box and glove, box. 1( Mr Dey then read a letter from Ahe committee, , expressing their regr,et,!,at,Miss .Palmer's, departure,., and high appreciatipn of , her, devotion to her duties.-- Miss Palmer deputed- -Mr Maberly to reply; for* her, beiug much affected by the.proceedingB.and requested particularly to say-;that she had not been happier in aiiy other place in' New l Zealand than at Hamilton East school. The children sang several songs, concluding,,witlj f God Saive Queen.
