[BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MASTERTON, Last Night.
News was brought this morning of the dreadful death by fire of the ferryman and his wife and children at Wharema ferry. The man's name was Smith, and he had been ferryman for many years: No one knew of the fire , until a person was going by and noticed the ruins of the building, and on nearer examination came across tl^e remains of the man and his wife. J The body of one of the children was found on the hillside, where the dogs had dragged it.
