Mr Whitaker Forms, a Ministry. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] [A portion of the following was issued yesterday afternoon as an Extra.]
Wellington, April 21. Mr Whitakeb arrived in Wellington very late last night. The Governor sent for him, aucl asked him to form a Cabinet. He said he would give him an answer in the morning. Mr Whitaker afterwards had an interview with Major Atkinson, but nothing will be known until later to-day.
Wellington, Later. Mr Whitaker had a long consultation with his colleagues this morning, lasting from 8 o'clock till 11. Present: Mr Whitaker, Mr Dick, Mr Johnston, Mr Bryce, and Major Atkinson. Some difference of opinion arose as to the rearrangement of portfolios, but this is understood to be now settled, though in what manner is not disclosed. Mr Whitaker has now proceeded to the residence of Mr Hall, the ex-Premier, to consult with him, after which he will be jjrepared to lay before the Governor the names of the proposed new Ministry. The interview with - the Governor will probably take place in an hour or two. Mr Whitaker had an interview with the Governor, and informed him that he had formed a Cabinet consisting of all the former Ministers' except Mr Hall. They will be sworn in this afternoon. Ihe Governor leaves for Christchurch immediately afterwards.
Ministry Sworn in. Wellingtox, April 21 (Evening). Ministers have just been sworn in. Mr Whitakcr is Premier. The other offices are exactly the same as before. Major Atkinson will be the leader of the Lower House.
