LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Last Night.
A/c the Supreme Court (civil sessions) to-day, in the case W. S. Lauiic v. A. H. Nathan to lecover sum claimed upon a sale of currants by the plaintiff, a non suit was recorded, the plaintiff failing to establish his caso. Heniy Webber employed as keeper of the Naval store, was drowned at the North Shore to-day. At a sitting of the Supreme Court in Chambers, in the estate of 13. Edwards, Mr Thorno applied for letteis of administration to Elizabeth Edwards, which were granted. At the Police Court to-day, Samuel Cox, proprietor of the 'Frisco Oyster Saloon, was again brought up on a charge of stabbing William Hill in March last. After hearing the evidence the case was adjourned in order to alter the information so that it might be sununauly dealt with. An elderly man named Rxkes, employed on the steamer Eotorua, fell down the hold and fractured his skull. The petition to the House of Representatives, praying that the Government House be reserved for the use of the new University College, has received about 700 influential signatures.
