.Auckland, Night. Tiik racehorses Te Wlietu, Amazon and Yatapa were offered for sale atßuckland's yards to-day, but the offers made did not satisfy the vendors, and the horses were passed, in. The reserve ou Te Wlietu was £125. At the Supreme Court, to-day, the Oxford manslaughter case continued all day, and is expected to be finished at ten o'clock to-night. A youug man named James Young, of Kohimarama, was standing at Hunter and, Nolans auction yards, Durliamstreet, while the horses were being sold. An animal was brought in amongst the ci-owd, and while the bidding was proceeding, a bystanderr-pulled its tail. The result was most! .unfortunate for Young, who was standing close by the frightened horse, which reared up and lashed out furiously behind with its hoofs, one of which struck Young a severe blow in th<? abdomen. It was seen that the injury was of a serious nature, and a cart having been obtained he was removed home. Fred. Ellison, who' fell from a house in PonsonbyJ died at the hospital to-day. Information has been received in town fco-day by Superintendent Thomson, that a gum digger committed suicipe at Ranpekapeka, near Kawakawa, named Michael KeifFe, He had been drinking heavily for some time past, and immediately prior to death, was iv a state of delirium tremens. Last evening he drowned himself in a creek at Ruapekapeka.
