FLY IN SHEEP.

A most important and unwelcome announcement is made by the Timaru Herald. It is that the much-dreaded fly lias appeared among Mr Archer's sheep in his paddock near Timaru. The Herald says :—": — " This is the first time, we believe, the insect has been discovered in a New Zealand flock, at all events in South Canterbury. It is bad enough when the destructive work is found to exist in small flocks, where sheep are reckoned by unite, for under such conditions its eradication may possibly be effected. But should the insect once get amongst the large flocks pasturing on the lulls, and on the large runs, its presence with them would indeed be a dread calamity to sheepfarmers. "We devoutly hope that the present case is an isolated one, and that we shall not hear of its multiplication."
