[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night.
A storekeeper at Rangiora, named Robert Thomas, accidentally swallowed half-a-piut of bichromate of potash and sulphuric acid last night. He died from the effects this morning. Deceased had been suffering from the effects of rheumatism and sciatica, and had been drinking. An inquest will be held. John Gilpin was committed for trial today, for assaulting Clements, and breaking his jaw.
