DEFENCE DEPARTMENT. rjIHE present contractor having given X notice of the termination of nil contract on Friday, the 21st April next, sealed tenders in duplicate will be received by the undersigned up to noon on Thursday, 6th April, for the supply of Rations to the Armed Constabulary or, other Colonial Force, between Cambridge odd Rotorua, and any Constabulary Station in Waikato District, for the twelve months ending 22nd April, 1883. Specifications can be seen at the A. C. Office, Cambridge. Each tender must be accompanied by a cheque for (£25) twenty-five pounds, made payable to the Receiver-General, only, and not to bearer, and marked by f a banker as good for 21 days, as uguarantee that the contract will be taken up. ' The successful tenderer will be required to find two approved sureties of £200 each for the due fulfillment of the contract. PLOUGHING CONTRACT, WAITOA.
NO satisfactory tenders having been received the Auckland Agricultural Company invite further tenders for clearing, ploughing, harrowing and rolling 800 acres more or less, beiug blocks A and B, on their Waitoa estate until noon of MONDAY, 3rd of April. The blocks can be seen on application to Henry Burbridge at the station on the property, and specifications can be seen at Fen Court. Fen Coiut, Cambridge, 24th March, 18S2.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION. To the Ratepayers of the Waitoa Highway District. NOTICE is hereby given that the Waitoa Highway District Board propose to STOP the undermentioned ROADS in Te Pae o tu Rawaru, No 2 Block, and to take land for Roads in lieu thereof :—: — Roads to be Closed. 1. A Road containing 11 acres 24 porches, bounded north-easterly by section 4 (E. P. Burburry), and south-westerly by section 15 (Rich and Williams). 2. A Road containing 16 acres 1 rood 20 perches, bounded north-easterly by sections 14 and 15 (Rich and Williams), and south-westerly by section ] 6 (.Rich and Williams). 3. A Road containing 24 acres 1 rood 18 perches, bounded westerly and north-westerly, by sections 14, 13, 12, 7 and 6 (the property of Messrs Rich and Williams, Smale, Wright, and Hunt), south-easterly and easterly by section 5 (Simpson and Co.), and section 15. 4. A Road containing 25 acres 1 rood 18 perches, passing through section 12 (W. C. Wright), and between settionsj 10 and 11 (Rich and Williams, and J. B. Kells). 5. PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL. IN accordance with Section 80, " Counties Act 1876," and Sections 19 and 20 " Slaughter-house's Act 1877," I hereby give notice that at a Special Meeting of the above Council holden at Cambridge on the 3rd day of March 1882, the following resolutiun was adopted :—: — " That the Bye-laws for the regulation of Slaughter-houses within the County, as drawn up by Cr. Chepmell, be adopted." And I further give notice that a meeting of the Council will be held at Cambridge at 2 p.m., on Friday the 31st in3t, for the purpose of confirming said resolution. * CHAS.
