The Colonial Treasurer left for the North yesterday, and Mr Dick sailed South this afternoon. Both ministers will be absent about a fortnight. Hearn challenges to row D. Duncan or arty other man in New Zealand for £100 or £200 aside. The Governor has remitted, on the recommendation of Ministers, the remainder of the sentence of imprisonment for life passed in 1872 upon Te Maka Paitai, one of Te Kooti's followers, for the murder of a friendly native messenger, on the occasion of the Poverty Bay campaign.
