CHRISTCHURCH, Last.Night.
A smart shock of earthquake was felt here at 9.10 a.m. this morning. No damage is reported. ' Th.tf'liytteUoH Times gives currency-ito a report that Fulton definitely refuses the Government nomination .of chairman of Committees, which was offered to him with the object' of splitting"' the Otago vote. The chance" now lies between Col: Trimble, New Plymouth^ arid Hurst and Hamlin; of Auckland. A statement is also made, in the Times that a serious dissension has arisen in the Cabinet re? lative to Mr Bryce's .proposal to remove ' the Native Land t Court from Auckland, the difference is said to be so serious that a split in the Cabinet will probably follow, should, Bryce insist on carrying out his intention.
