London, March 18. The House of Commons passed a resolution approving of the charter granted by Government to the North Borneo Trading
Company. New York, March 18. Floods in the Mississippi river and tributaries continue, and an enormous extent of country is inundated, and further serious destruction resulted to life and property. It is estimated that 85,000 persons have been rendered homeless and destitute.
Vienna, March 18. It is announced that the Emperor and Empress of Austria will proceed to Turin at Easter on a visit to the King of Italy.
Rio de Janeiro, March 18. Disastrous floods have been experienced in this province, owing .to the overflowing of the Parauyba river. A large tract of country is under water, and three towns were almost completely swept away. A number of persons have been drowned, and serious loss of property has been caused the floods.
