WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The council held their usual meeting at the chambers on Tuesday, the 14th inst. , Crs. Hadfield, Steele, Tcosdale, Bruce and Buttle being present. — The preliminaries being disposed of, the correspondence received since last meeting was taken into consideration. Correspondence with the Treasury waa read, referring to the proper allocation of auctioneers' fees. The letters holding out no hope of redress, the council dropped the subject as useless. Circular correspondence was received from certain county councils referring to county revenues and Government deductions, for hospitals and charitable aid. The council resolved to suggest to the Government payment per head on fiatients received from each county, in ieu of the present method, as more just and equitable. A reply was received from Mr Seddon, re the taking of land for, a road deviation. The chairman also reported that lie had spoken to Mr Seddon dn the subject. No objection to a reasonable exchange being anticipated, it was decided to adopt the deviation in the Ohaupo swamp, road.— The council resolved to engage the services of Mr Sandes as engineer, and to adopt his report and plans for the work, Crs. Buttle and Hadfield being authorised to accept tenders, which were to be called for the 30th inst. — The Rangiaohia licensing committee sent certificates to authorise the issue of conditional licenses to Messrs Corboy and Anderson. — Accounts to the amount of £8 2s were paid, and the business being concluded the council rose.
