DUNEDIN, Last Night.
The Times says the Southern Cross Petroleum Company have no valid lease where the petroleum is founrl, not half the necessary signatures having been obtained. 'Che Melbourne shareholders, represented by Messrs McMahon and Jack, are disgusted to find that the nathe title has never been extinguished, and that the workmen have been driven ofl" the ground by the native chiefs. The conduct of the Gisborne directors was strongly animadverted on, and will piobably be ground for legal proceedings. Mr McMahon and others return to Melbourne by the Rotomahaua, to consult the Melbourne shareholders >c further proceedings.
