CORRESPONDENCE. THE SMALL BIRD NUISANCE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I quite coincide with a letter which appeared in your paper a short time since, in reference to the destructiveness of the small birds, and think it high time something was done to check it, for, with their rapid increase, we shall have neither grain nor fruit. By and bye it will take double the, time and labor to thin them, and farmers should take warning before it is too late. Would itnot be advisable to hold meetings at different places in Waikato to see what could be done ? 1 would suggest that one day should be set apart for a generalpoisoning throughout the district. I think this question cannot be too strongly impressed on the minds of settlers, as the damage done by the birds is more serious than most people- areaware:— l am, etc., Jt S. Cambridge, March Bth.'
