WESLEYAN SUNDAY-SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. Children's Concert.
O.ne of the most successful Sunday-school anniversaries ever held in Cambridge was that of the children attending the Wesleyan Sunday-school, which took place in the Cambridge Public Hall, on Wednesday evening last. For some time past the children have been under the training of Mr C. D. Mackintosh, choirmaster of the church, who apparently has taken great pains in bringing his youthful pupils up to their present standard of perfection in their hymnal choruses. Though the weather on Wednesday, evening was anything but favourable, the hall was well filled by parents and friends, the children being arranged on the platform. The Rev. Mr Bull piesided, and presented the prizes to the boys and girls who contributed the songa and recitations of the evening. Mr Mackintosh conducted the singing, and Mr W. H. Neal played the accompaniments on the harmonium. All the ' choruses were rendered in excellent time, and the hymns and recitations were much appreciated. The most entertaining items of the evening were the contributions of Master McAlpine and Miss W, Walker. The former is possessed of a voice which is well worthy of cultivation. The following is the programme : — Chorus, " Marching on to Canaan," by children ; Recitation, "The Wreck of the Hesperus," Miss Alice Reynolds ; Song and chorus, "Who are these like stars appearing," Miss M.
