DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT WAITOA.

Ouxi Waitoa correspondent writes yesterday :— " A very destructive fire occurred in the Auckland Agricultural Company's property, Waitoa swamp, last evening, resulting in the total destruction of the camps occupied by Messrs Breakell and Hackctt. It appears that a whirlwind arose and carried some of the sparks from a fire which had been kindled outside the camp, into the dry swamp, which ignited. The fire spread with such rapidity that the camps were destroyed before anything could be saved, the men having nothing left evcept the clothes they stood in. The loss is, therefoie, a serious one. The company will also be considerable losers> ; a road upon which Mr Lovett is engaged ballasting, caught fire, and a large portion of it has been burnt." At latest accounts the fire ■was btill burning.
