AUCKLAND, Last Night. The fore-and-aft schooner 'iriffin, coal laden from the Bay of Islands, ran ashore at Rangitoto last night. She was floated off to-day, with some seiious injuries. GISBORNE, Last Night. On Saturday evening last, Mr Gannon, one of the defeated candidates in the late election for the representation of East Coast district in Parliament, was entertained at a public dinner by his friends and supporters. During the evening a beautiful gold watch was presented to him by his supporters, in order to show their appreciation of his services in advocating the wants of the district and reforms so urgently required in native land laws.
