AUCKLAND, Last Night. The fore-and-aft schooner 'iriffin, coal laden from the Bay of Islands, ran ashore at Rangitoto last night. She was floated off to-day, with some seiious injuries. News has been received from Brisbane that a boat w.\s capsized uear Flatop Island, and three of its occupants drowned.
WELLINGTON, Last Ni^ht. The contract between the Government and the "Wellington-Manawatu Company, has now been finally approved of by all parties, and will be forwarded to Christchurch by the first mail for His Excellency's signature.
GISBORNE, Last Night. On Saturday evening last, Mr Gannon, one of the defeated candidates in the late election for the representation of East Coast district in Parliament, was entertained at a public dinner by his friends and supporters. During the evening a beautiful gold watch was presented to him by his supporters, in order to show their appreciation of his services in advocating the wants of the district and reforms so urgently required in native land laws.
