The Cambridge-Te Awamutu Swamp Road is again open for traffic, the necessary repairs at Howie's bridge having been effected.
We are informed that Mr A. A. Fantham, late of Gwynnelands, Cambridge, has purchased an improved farm ou the Waimate Plains, in the neighbourhood of Hawera.
We have been requested to notify the members of the Hamilton Baud to meet to-morrow morning at their practice room, at half-past nine, in order to attend a church parade of the Waikato Cavalry.
The Cambridge - Rotorua Road, and the Cambridge Railway are the two great matters to be laid before the Preznier on his visit to Cambridge. The necessity of having both the works carried on to completion as soon as possible will be urged.
The art of garden pilfering appears to have reached perfection in Hamilton. During the last few weeks the gardens and orchards of a number of residents in and around the town have been systematically robbed. Mr Gwynne, who has been a very heavy sufferer, is extemely anxious to make the thieves' acquaintance.
Harvestthanksgiving services will be held at S. Peter's church, Hamilton, to-morrow. The church has been tastefully decorated with oat and wheat sheaves, fruit, &c, and an appropriate text will be fixed over the chancel. Contributions of flowers will be received to day.
Attention is directed to the notice of elections of licensing committees in another column, which will all take place on February 27th, instead of the dates as appeared in the issue of the 9th. Nominations must be made on the 18th instant.
We understand that Mr A. Isaacs will proceed at once with the building of his new hotel at Oxford. The meeting of ratepayers held there on Thursday approved of his intention.
