[BY TELEGRAPH.] Cambridge, Last Evening.
The case opened at 1 o'clock. Wire Hana was called for the prosecution, and deposed : There was a fight between Ngatana and Peinn. Hoani went to assist Peina, and Mikaere to .assist his cousin Hoani and Mikaere fought out of the crowd, across tho course, and Mikaere struck Hoani a blow which felled him to the ground. Witness earned Hoani to the creek, where he saw a wound. When Hoani fell Peina was at the other side of the course. — Hirini Watene, called by Mr Brassey, deposed : Saw Hoani and Mikaere fighting at the Oxford races. Mikaere struck Hoani on the breast. The latter fell to the ground and never rose again. Saw Mikaere and Hoani sparring jit eacli other until they came to the place whetc Hoani fell. — Karanama deposed : Saw Mikaere strike Hoani a blow on the breast and Hoani fell. tA'ent to Mikaere and told him lie ought to be ashamed of himself. — Dr Cusliney deposed : Made a post mortem examination of the body, on which he found a wound such as a small pocketknife would inflict, and which was sufficient to cause death.
