The Recent Fire.
An inquest was held to inquire into the origin of the recent fire in Huuter-street. The evidence adduced proved nothing beyond the. fact that the gasfitter from the gasworks had examined the gasometer on the day "of the fire, and had, used matches in the examination. Thfe jury returned a verdict to' the effect' that the fire originated in the meter- box, either from meter or pipes, but there was no evidence to show how it was ignited. '*^-'
