Mr Alfred Buckland's Weekly Report.— At the Haymarkct on Friday, Jan. 20, fodder was in short supply, and brought from 2s 6d to 5s per cwt ; small loads, 13s to 19s per load j and oats, 2s 4d per bushel. Owing no doubt to the boisterous weather, there were not a large number ot horses yarded, and nearly all found buyers .it f.nr prices. Medium draughts brought from Ll7 10s to L 25 ; Light harness horses, L8 to Lis ; light hacks, L 5 to L.9 ; and a donkey, L 5 10s. fhc Dargawlle booths, not bringing the upset price were passed in. At the s.ile held at Penrose of pure Leicester and Lincoln sheep and Hereford cattle, the property ot the Auckland Agricultural Company (late Maclean and Co), there were buyers present from Christchurch, Napier, Wanganui, Hawera, and New Plymouth, and the greater number of the stock were purchased by those gentlemen. Prices for good Leicester rams ranged from 2 guineas to 3^ guineas; Leicester ewes, from ii guineas to •)•/ guineas ; good Lincoln rams, from 3 guineas to 13 gurnets; ewes, from ii guineas to 3^ guineas; and after the sale of the sheep, such ol the Hereford cows as those present chose were sold. Prices ranged from 20 guineas to 30 guineas, averaging 24 guineas each. At Remuera, on Thursday, there was a considerable improvement in the value of dairy cows, all brought forward sold freely. Prices rangod from £8 to £10 for cows, and from £s to £7 lor heiters carrying their first calt. .More, cattle were plentiful, and dull of sale. Fat tattle were in moderate number; 115 head yarded. Last week's \alues were barely sustained; prices ranged from 18s to 23s the icolbs. Fat sheep were better worth is per head, particularly for light weights. Lambs were also in bcttet inquiry. No store sheep yarded. Mf.ssks. Huvii'R a\d Nor w's Wim'ki.y Ri - I'ORI. — Horses: 'Iheiewas a marked improvement both in supply and demand. A draft trom Hawera of light Horses were the principal attraction at the Durham Yards on Friday, for which competition was good, while for local horses it was slack, but ne.irlv all in were_ either disposed of at auction or afterwards privately. We quote h uks from L 7 to LlB ss ; light harness horses, Lis to L 22. No heavy draught wore disposed of, but there remained an unsatisfied inquiry for active spring-trap horses up to a ton ti ml. Wool, Hides, and Skins : I here was a slightly upward tendency tor wool, selling at fiom /d to Bjd in grease; hides at from 3|d to 3? per lb; skins, ■•> id to 2s 7d each ; tallow, 22s 9U to 2js Gd per cwt. Cattle ■ lhore has been less th in an average number submitted, but prices were not appreciably higher than the previous week. At Newmarket, in consequence of the non-arn\.tl of the Wallabi, the number yarded was less than usual, but bidding was languid, and only top sorts reached 22s 6d per loolbs. D.1113' tows and stores were scarce, but there was no upward tendency in price. Sheep : The supply has been rather short, and there was a marked improvement in price. Lambs were plentiful, and sold at from 6s 3d to 15.
