SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION.
The statutory annual meeting of householders for the election of school committeess for the ensuing twelve months was held yesterday. The following are the results which have come to hand :—: — Hautapu. — Meeting held yesterday afternoon in the school-house, Ohaupo. Mr J. H. Smith presided. Captain Runciman, the retiring chairman and treasurer, read and submitted the balance for last year, showing a balance of £16 11s lid to the credit of the funds. The following were elected the committee for ensuing year : — Messrs Main, J. Martyn, jun., Cowling, Russell, Morgan, Pearson, and J. J. Smith. Mr Smith was subsequently elected chairman and treasurer. Cambridge North.— There were about forty householders present, and the chair was occupied by Mr W. Reid. The following were elected a committee :—: — Messrs Mackintosh, Heany, Nixon, Wright, Hosking, Evans, andHoughton. Hamilton East. — The annual meeting of householders was held in the schoolhouse, Mr A. Potter in the chair. There wete about 20 householders present. The secretary of the outgoing committee read the abstract balance for the year, from which it appeared that the total receipts amounted to £34 18s 6d, and the total expenditure to £34 Us Id, leaving a credit balance of Is sd. The accounts had been audited by Mr Robson, but on euquiry it was found that the liabilities of the committee were not shown, and that one or two vouchers were pot forthcoming. The statement was therefore held over to be dealt with by the incoming committee. The meeting then proceeded to elect a committee. The following were nominated, and on a ballot being taken the first seven were duly elected : — Messrs Lovegrove, Tippen, Cn mining, Dey, R; Harris, R. Gillett, J. Coombes, Field, Bell, Pascoe, C. Smith, Hope, French, Gelling, and Robson Messrs Gaudin aud LeQuesne were elected auditors. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting. Subsequently the newly-elected committee held a meeting, at which Mr Cumming was re-elected chairman, and the meetings fixed for the first Wednesday in each month. Hamilton West. — The annual meeting of householders was held at the Public and Volunteer Hall. The attendance was not a large one. Mr A. Sharp was chairman. The report and balance-sheet of the outgoing committee, on the proposition of Mr H. P. McPherson, seconded by Mr McGarrigle, were duly adopted. The next business before the meeting, the election of a committee for the ensuing year, was then proceeded with, and resulted in the following householders being elected without opposition : — Messrs Gvvynne. Bradley, Knox, Hume, A. Campbell, Yon Stunner, and G. Edaecumbe. A vote of thanks to the chairmon brought the meeting to a close. A meeting of the newly-elected committee took place immediately after the above, when it was resolved that Mr Hume be chairman and Mr Knox secretary and treasurer. It was also decided that the regular meetings of the committee should take place on the first Wednesday in each mouth. Before the meeting separated, it was resolved that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to the late chairman (Mr G wynne), who had served two terms as chairman, aud with great satisfaction to all concerned.
