WHATA WHATA.
The annual school treat to the children of this township came off on Monday last. The weather in the morning looked like rain, but it cleaved up about twelve o'clock, and was all that could be wished. The little ones seemed to enjoy themselves, and were much pleased with their prizes, especially with the Christmas tree provided by Mr Boler, the schoolmaster, •who showed good taste in the decorations of the school room. There was a good attendance of visitors, and in the evening a dance wound up the day's amusement, which all seemed to enjoy, both visitors from Raglan, Ngaruawahia, and other parts. Mr Bailey catered for the feast and uVnce in the evening, and gave general satisfaction. The lime-burners aie pushing ahead burning, and I believe they < intend shortly to commence burning with coal, on the banks of the river, where they intend erecting sheds for the storage of the same —[Own Correspondent, January 14th.]
