A CORRECTION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — In your issue of Thursday appears a local alluding to a bull, the property of B. and J. Coleman, being impounded, the lock of the pound being tampered with, and the beast taken out. The assprtion is untrue and malicious. Now, to such a statement I can give an unqualified contradiction. The facts are simply these : I asked the pound keeper to allow the animal to be left in the pound for the night, lest lie should do more serious damage before taking him away, which he agreed to do. The next morning, in presence of a witness, he acknowledged seeing the bull at his own place bcfoic nine o'clock the previous night when he might have easily put him back again. Now the real facts 1 have ascertained since : Two lads named Lees and Keep, on horseback, drove a cow by the pound and saw the animal jump out. By inserting these few lines in the columns of your valuable journal you will greatly oblige — Yours, etc., John Colkmax. Hamilton, January 9th.

[We are glad to give insertion to this letter, as we have good reason for believing the charge implied in the poundkeeper's letter was unfounded. The* "local" spoken of by our correspondent contained an account of the proceedings at the last Borough Council meeting. —Ed.]
