Chabge of Indecent Assault on a Married Woman. — Franciscus Van Damme, of Kihikihi, carpenter, was brought up on a, warrant, chai'ged with committing an indecent assault upon* Thirza Temple, the wifToisChas. Temple, of Kihikihi, settler.^The information wab laid on Wednesday last, the alleged offence having occurred ou the previous day. The prosecution was conducted by Constable Gillies, while Mr Gresham was retained for the defence. After the evi-l dence for the prosecution and defence had been heard, Mr Gresham addressed) the Bench, stating that he did not wishj to obtain the acquittal of his client by) aspersing the character of the com- \ plainant ; he desired, however, to ask the/ Bench whether they would wish him to adduce evidence as to the general charac- 1 ,ter and credibility of complainant.
