PROPOSED INTRODUCTION OF GAS INTO CAMBRIDGE.
Tk reply to the iequistiton signed by a large number of the business men of Cambridge, asking the directors of the Auckland Gas Company to allow their engineer, Mr Atkinson, to come to Cambridge and report upon the adaptability of gaa for that township, Mr T. Wells has received the following :—: — Auckland Gas Company (Limited). Mr Tkos. Wfi ls. Dear sir —Yourcommunication came to hand this morning, giving- me the opportunity of laying it before my directors at the Board meeting held to-day. I am directed to say in reply, that the directors gladly accede to your request, and are willing that Mr Atkinson, the engineer, should proceed to Cambridge to render you the assistance you require. Will you thcieiorc be good enough "to name a timf for his visit, and communicate with cither of us. — I am, dear sir, yours obediently, C. B. Parsons, Secretary. Mr Wells has replied aud requested the engineer to come at once.
