There are aleo ■ many smaller streams in all the hill sections of the country which are utilised, and would furnish an Aggregate equal to i the last named figure.- 'This great force of water power is likely, to 'be thrown altogether in the shade by* the proposed plans' to utilise Niagara,. by placing three turbines, 4ft in* diameter, with Buft of head, fed by a tube, 7ft in , diameter, eaoh turbine giving 1000 horee power, with the whole strength of the great lakes and the Niagara river to reinforce them. The average flow of the river above the falls is 10,000,000 cubic feet per minute Convertiug this into horse power under a head of 200 ft, a grand aggregate is obtained of 3»000,000 hprse, power—a mighty force sufficient to supply the economic wants of 200,000,000 people.
