South African Governorships. London, December 5.

It is officially announced. 'that the appointment of Mr G. W. 5. Lendall.to the Lieutenant-Governorship of Nata! has been cancelled by the Government, 'who thus accede to the wishes of the Natal colonists. It is further announced that, in providing a successor to Sir Evelyn Wood, Government will appoint a Governor of the colony instead of a Lieute-nant-Governor, as in the past, thus still further meeting the views of the colonists, as recently expressed.
