ME WHITAKEE. AT WHATAWHATA.
Mr F. A. Whitaker addressed the electors of Waipa in the School-hoase, Whatawhata, on Saturday evening. There were about 40 persons 'present, tarid the chair waa occupied by Mr Sallow. The candidate spoke for an hour., and a quarter, and was frequently applauded, the electors paying 1 the closest attention. At the close of the addr&B,! several Questions were asked by Mr P. Corboy, and answered to the satisfaction of the meet' ing. Mr Dawson then proposed, and Mr Crawford seconded 1 the following resolution, "That this meeting thanks Mr Whitaker for his address, and , desires to express its confidence in him as their representative in Parliament, and pledges itself to uae every effort ' to secure ' his return." On being' put to meeting, 25 hands were held up for the resolution, and five against it; The result was received with loud and prolonged cheers. The usual vote of thanks to the chair, brought the meeting to a close.
