PLECTOES OF WAIPA; Gentlemen, — I beg to inform you that I HAVE RETIRED FROM THE CONTEST for the honor of representing you in the General Assembly. The chances of success do not seem sufficient to justify me in going to the Poll, aud perhaps thereby indirectly contributing to the defeat of one main object I had in view — the representation of Waipa by a settler of the district. In withdrawing from the contest under these circumstances, I beg to thank those electors who would have supported me, aud to state that whoever may be returned will find me ready to assist him, so far as my limited opportunities will permit, in developing the capabilities and resources of the district. I will only further assure the electors that I will take no act or part during this contest in favour of either candidate, beyond recording my one vote.
