HAMILTON MAYORAL ELECTION.

The polling for the election ot Mayor of Hamilton, took place at the Council Chambers yesterday. Thtre was some little excitement during the day, and the supporters of Messrs Knox and Gaudin were it considerable pains to bring the voters to the poll. At 6 o'clock, out of a total of 236 on the roll, 135 had exercised their right, and when the returning officer (Mr Gelling) declared the state of the pnll, these were found to be divided thus :—: — Knox 8i Gaudin ... ... ... 51 Majority for Knox ... 33 Mr John Enox was therefore declared to have been re-elected to the office of Mayor for the ensuing year.
