TOMORROW'S RACES.

The Spring meeting of the Waikato Turf Club takes place to-morrow on their couree at Ohaupo, and if the weather keeps at all fine they promise to be a great success, a large number of horses having arrived to take part in the various events. The secretary has completed all arrangements, and punctuality will be studied in bringing off the different events. A special train will run from Huntley, arriving at Rukuhia at noon, and will return at 530 p.m , thus enabling settlers to get home at a reasonable hour. A totahsator will be at work on the course. Our sporting correspondent writes: — The entries for the meeting may be considered satisfactory ou the whole, although the acceptance for the hurdles is not so good as might have been expected. Why Te Whetu did not accept is hard to see. Last year he gave Sportsman slbs and a good beating, and now he is only asked to concede 81bs. That looks like fair handicapping, but I suppose he cannot be fit. If Rawenata is crushed out as some say at list 3lbs, the sooner he gives up the jumping business the better. For a horse of his class the weight ought to be everything. Sportsman will, I think, win, but he must make no mistake or Daric will show him the way home. A fine acceptance of eight out of eleven for the handicap speaks well for the handicapping, and a slashing race may be looked forward to. The best condition will do the trick, as, all things being equal, the horses are brought well together, and the Auckland handicappers seem to have formed the same idea of the horses as our people. Fit and well, I should look no further than Yatapa for the winner, but I fear condition. Maori is in grand condition, and therefore dangerous, but he is so uncertain that I cannot stand him. The Quail has been made first favorite, but I think Bst. 51bs. too much for the little fellow, although he is bound to be thereabouts. Lara does not seem to be dangerous, Vampire ditto ; Saunteier is well in and may run into a place, and Dewdrop will make it hot for some of them, as I hear she is a much improved mare— like most Derbys, age makes them right. Rocket will run a very different horse from his Cambridge performance, being in great fettle. I think the three first horses will come from Yatapa, Quail, Rocket, and Dewrirop, and for choice I take Dewdrop and Yatapa. The lesult of the second handicap depends so much on the first that nothing can be said. For the Maiden Plate five are entered, and if Miss Domett would she could, but I am afraid she wou't. Blink Bonnie is not fast enough, ditto Strat'ieain ; Othello I know not, and Joe Bennett ought to win, or else Owen must be further out than usual. I go for Joe. I hope someone will make money by my tips. Farewell ; a good day's spoit to all concerned.
