AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. Air Alfred Dockland's Weekly Report:— At the Haymarkct, on Friday (nth), fodder was scarce, and brought from 2S od to 4s, small loads 13s to 17s, and straw qs to 20s per load. Horses were yarded in larger numbers than for months past, and nearly all disposed of. Anything of a good stamp in all classes, elicited keen competition. Heavy draught brought from L3l 10s to L 33 10s; medium draught, Ll6 to L3O; lijyht harness horses, Lt2 to L 25 ss. Several good hacks were eagerly competed tor, six of which were sold at prices ranging from L*4 5s to L 26, and a number of light backi and ponies were cleared at from L 5 5s to Ll2 ; light and medium colts, La ss to LlB 10s. The entire, Penrose, L2l . The bulls advertised were not disposed of. At the Haymarkct, on Tuesday, hides maintained late values, and brought from 3d to 4jd the lb. Sheepskins from 3s to Ss 7d each. The wool sale has been fully reported: price* were steady throughont, and i&d to sd per lb. less in price than at the corresponding sale of last year. The highest price obtained was i3{d for a. parcel of scoured merino wool. At Drury, on Wednesday, there was a full muster of cattle of all descriptions. Price* were higher throughout than at last sale. Although bidding was- slow, yet all brought forward found buyprs. cattle were in less than average number, and at lower values, ranging from 22s to 25s the loolbs. Fat calves were numerous, and lower in price 10s each. Store sheep in good inquiry. Fat sheep in short supply, and at extreme values. Shorn half-bred wethers brought 17s each, or fully 3d per lb. Lambs were penned in full numbers, first quality brought from ros to 13s each, but a large number of f.iirly well fatted lambs ranged from 5s to 7s only, and a few pigs of good quality sold moderately well. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report : — Horses: Actiwty has again clnractoiiscd the market. A larger number was entered, and found purchasers at prices highly satisfactory to the vendor. A shipment of Gisborne horses elicited Keen competition. We quote hacks, £6 10s to L?o ; light harness, Ll5 10s to L 2 3: medium draught, L 22 10s to L3O ; draught L 39 10s ; a superior draught filly, from Gisborne, L4S. Cattle : The supply h.is been large. The demand has not been keen, and although, in many instances, prices came tip to expectation of vendors, there was no material decline in values. The Newmarkft j.irds w - c well filled on Tuesday. A very large number of dairy cows were brought forward, but prices were decidedly low. Stores maintained their value, although scvcial pens did not reach the expectation of vendois. Fat beasts were in a.uplc supply and steady demand. For top sorts last week's values were given; but insufficiently fatted were relativclj lower. We quote: — Dairy cows, from L 5 10s to to L 9 7s 6d ; calves, from Li 2s to L 2 5s ; yearlings, from L2to L 2 17s 6d; two-year-old steers, from L 3 2s 6d to L 4 5s ; heifers, from 1.2 15s to L 3 12s 6d; grown steers, L 4 15s to L 5 12s 6d ; beef, from 22s to 275. Sheep were in short supply, and prices had an upward tendency. Lambs were very numerous, and sold at from 6s 6d to 11s 6d. Pigs: But few yarded, and prices satisfactory to vendor as compared with previous week. Wool Hides, Skins : On Thursday the hides offered were not in good order, and sold at from 2^d to 3jd ; skins, from 2s 8d to 6s 6d. Scarcely so many bales were catalogued as we expected, nor was it so well got up as we could wish, but prices were quite as high as were warranted by the state of the Home market. Greasy sold at from 6\ to BJd ; washed, ie to iojd.
WAIKATO MARKETS. Messrs W. T. Hunter & Co. report:— At the Cambridge Yards, on Friday, Nov. i r th, ,'the yards were well filled with both fat and store cattle, for grown steers there was a pood demand, and sold freely ; one-and-a-half and two-year-olds were dull of sale. A number of weaned calves met good competition, and all sold. I3ccf, although of good quality w.is dull of salcJ and but few sold, We quote : Weaned calves, Li 7s 6d to Li 13s ; two-year-old stceis, L 3 10s ; three-) ear-old steers, L 5 9s to L 5 15s ; fat steers, L8 to L8 5s ; fat wethers, 12s. At the Ohaupo Yards, on Thursday, Nov. 17th., the yards were completely crammed with all classes of cattle there was a very large attendance of buyers, principally for large lots. There was keen competition throughout the sale, andjiearly every lot cleared for young stock, pnncipilly steer yearlings, there was good demand, and more could ha\ o been placed, a full market of fat sheep all sold tothc trade. A number ofyouny horses met ready sale. We quote: Dairy cows, L 5 10s to L8 7s 6d; weaned calves, Li 8s to L 2 5s , yearling steers from L 2 sstoLj; two-year-old heifers, L 3 to L 3 10s; dry cows, from to L 2 15s to L 3 5s , one-.ind-a-half and two-year-old steers, L 3 to L 3 17s 6d ; threc-ycar-old steers in low condition, L 4 to L 5; fat steers, L 6 12s 6d ; tat cows, from L 5 to L 5 17s 6d ; f.it sheep, (shorn) 10s Cd ;f.it sheep, (in wool) us gd to 15s : yearling colts, L 3 5s to L^ ; two-yeat-old colt, Ll4 ios. hacks,, from L 6 to L8 1 os .
