Hu\rm & Co. report:— At the OUcto Yaids on Monday, October 31st, there was a very I.irye niimbei of c.ittlc yarded, nearly 400 penned, there were seveial buyeis from Waik ito, besides a good number of local bidders, and the {fri'itct p.ut sold, those remaining' unsold, bung foi warded to the central market. Cows 'in low condition) and calves sold from £3 ; yearmg steer--, (well-bred) L 2 8s L 3 ; two-} ear-old steers, L 3 5s to L( ; grown steers, L 5 10s to L 6 as 6d cmlli. At the I'Yankton sale on Wednesday, No\embei 2nd, an unusually large number of cattle \.irded, the yards being completely crammed. Theie was a number of 1 irge bujers present, and the greater part sold at lull Ohaupo prices. We quote . Calve 1 , and yearlings from L 2 to I«2 15s , two-jcar-old steers, L 3 5s to Ls ; co.irse tin ce-j ear- old steers, I 4 to L 5 2s Gd ; fat cows from L 6 2s 6d ; dairy cows, L 5 to L 7 10s ; two-year-old heifers, 1.2 n;s to L 3 10s; riding cob, L 6 ios , plough mare, L 6. At the Oliaiipo Yards on lhimday, November 3rd, fully 500 head ot cattle were yarded, the .lttendancc was not lanjc, but thcie v,cie several laigc buvess, and gi eater part sold. Grown steeis for fattening purposes were in active demand, and sold freely, a good number of very choice beef met keen competition, and realised from 24s to 26s the iool'js. Hie young stock were principally steers, and wcll-bied, and all sold. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. MrArnun Bt/cfUAVD's Weekly Report: — At the Ilaymarkot on Friday, October 28, hay w.is in short supply, and brought from 2s t)d to 3s 6d per cwl ; small loads, us to 20s. Straw was plentiful, and sold from 5s to 10s per load. The horse market was unusually active, a latge number being yarded, including- a draft of sKtecu from Wanganui. Satisfactory prices were obtained, active medium draught being- particu- j larly in demand, and bringing 1 from j£i6 10s to £20 S«; light harness horses, £10 to £19 10s ; h.icks, £7 to £1$ ', light unbroken colts, L 6 15s to L8 10s. At tlje Havmarkct, on Tuesday, November Ist, hides sold briskly, and brought from i\& to .(d the lb; calfskins, zd to jid ; fullwooled station skins, 3s 4d to 5s 4d | lambs, is to is 6d each ; tallow, 23s 6d the cwt.; locks and piet.es, 3d to sj ; fleece wool (in grease), 7d to 7^dthelb, At the private sale of stock, held at Mr E. Bovey's on Saturday last, there was a. very full attendanre, fho rattle were well bred, and generally in low condition, but were keenly competed for, and the advantaga of using purebred bulls shown by the price* realised. Best cows at their profits, either in milk or ne*r calving, brought from L 9 to Ll6 each j yearling heifers, L,i 15s to L 4 ss. A number of horses, other than those_ advertised, were also sold, mostly of the nje4itm draft class, and brought prices varying from ki<s to L3O each ; unbroken colts and fillies, from L»S to I/io, At Remuena, on Thursday, dairy cattle wens JjifPfOrous, but dull of SJle. On Wednesday, at the P.ipakur.i monthly sale, the jardswere completely crowded. There was a good attendance, but bidding was generally dull, and prices were about the same as at the fair on Monday. There exists a strong lnquirj for grown steers, in fresh conditisn.
