The Native Difficulty. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
New Plymouth, Saturday. A iakge number of natives from Parihakawore in town to-day. They purchased nine tons of flour and some sugar. They wore questioned aa to whether news of the proclamation had reached Parihaka. They said " No," and purchased a copy of the Heiald with it in. One who could read English perused it, and said he would take it to Te Whiti, who, he was sure, would not care, as he knew all that would happen to the Maoris, and could turn tho pakehas away at will.
Patea, Saturday. The Chairman of tho County Council has telegraphed to Major Atkinson that the notion taken by the Government re native affairs on this coast meet with the unanimous approval of the settlera, and trusts the Government will bo firm and bring the matter to a speedy and successful i<-sue. Mr. Bryce was heartily cheered on passing through here to-day.
