From Gisborne we learn that Mr J. Gannon contests that seat. Christchurch. — Our correspondent writes : — Mr Mason addressed the electors of Wakanui district at Rakaia, and received a vote of confidence. Wellington — Our correspondent reports :—lt: — It turns out that the Ministerial vacancy has not been filled up. Mr Oliver has accepted the seat in the Ministry offered him. The appointment is made under the act which gives the Governor power to appoint an eighth Minister without portfolio. Our Dunedin correspondent reports :—: — Captain Scott was favorably received at Roslyn. He announced himself a thorough free-trader and supporter of the bible- in-schoola, and said he would give the Government an independent support. Mr Murray addressed his constituents at Milton. A motion was moved that the meeting endorses his action during the past session. To this was afterwards added that he he invited to offer himself for re-election. An amendment was moved thanking him for past services and address, but considering that there are two local candidates in the field he should retire. Twenty voted for the amendment, and the motion was carried by a large majority. Our Dunedin correspondent telegraphs last night : — Mr J. W. Jago has declined to contest the Peninsula, on account of business engagements A telegram from Tauranga last night states that Mr G. Y. Stewart addressed the electors at Opotiki on Friday night, and was well received. A hearty vote of thanks to the candidate was passed. A Press Association telegram from Wellington last night states :— Mr Bryce is in town, and has been in consultation with Ministers to-day. — Mr M. L. Larks contests the Huttseat.— Mr 0. W. JohnBon ha 3 consented to contest the Te Aro seat. — Mr P. Coffey has decided to stand for South Wellington. Mr John Munro (Mayor) stands for Buller, (Westl&nd). No other candidate has as yet been announced,
