Host beef is 41s 6d; best mutton, 455. Best Scotrh pig iron has declined 2s per ton. No 1, f.o.b. in the Clyde, is quoted to-day at 525. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency report, under date London, 7th October ; —The wool sales closed at the level of last sales. The total quantity sold during 1 the past sales, is 330,000 bales, 45,000 bales Having been held over for future disposal. 170,000 bales have been taken for export. Superior combing, washed, has advanced id to ijd per lb ; for superior greasy the market is firmer ; for medium and inferior greasy the market is easier ; faulty and short staple merino, scoured, is neglected ; fine greaiydnd washed crossbred have, advanced id to id per lb ; coarse greasy crossbreds are unchanged.
