Hutchison will oppose Major Atkinson for the representation of Egmont, and is making an active canvass. The Hon. Edward Richardson has commenced the campaign at Lyttelton. He addressed the electors there on Thursday night. According to the local paper, the following are mentioned as candidates for the honor of representing Coromandel :—: — Messrs J. Sheehan, P. H. Blackmore, Uriah Glover, C. A. Harris, A. J. Cadman, A. Brodie, J. Mackay, and F. Woollams. Mr John Hayhursfc is announced as another candidate for Geraldine (Canterbury). H. Dodson, the well-known brewer, announces himself as a candidate for Wairau (Marlborough). The names of Joseph Ward (runholder) and A. P. Seymour,, are jilso mentioned as probable candidates. , Sir George Grey will, jtis said, be asked to open the election campaign at the Theatre Royal, Auckland. It is believed the Rev. D. Bruce will be a candidate for the representation 4 of Marsdea.
