LONDON MARKETS. London, September 26.— At the wool sale today to,ooo bales wore offered. A firm demand was experienced. Fine to finest qualities now rule .at £d higher than at the close of the last sales. Consols have advanced I, and are quoted to-day at oojj. New Zealand securities are unchanged, lhe 6 per cent. 10-40 loan is 102 J; the 5 per cent 1889 loan is 102^ ; the 4} per cent. 1870- 1904 loan is gaj. Adelaide wheat, ex store, has advanced is to sBs ; New Zealand wheat remains at 555, and Adelaide wheat, ex store, at }is od. Australian tallow: 13est beef is 425; best mutton is 44s 6d. lhe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date London, September — llic wool competition by both Home and foreign bu\crs is active, and is increasing, lhe market is firmer. Trade in the manufacturing districts has impro\cd. Up to date 241,000 bales ha\c been sold, lhe sale programme has been curtailed by fne days. 1 allow is in good demand, best mutton being worth £14, and best beef £41 per ton.
SYDNEY MARKETS. Messrs Moit & Co. report under date, Sjdney September 12th.— Woo! 11m being the off week no sales were held, and quotations .ire therefore unaltered. Sheepskins: Full fleeced .ire worth up to 7 ,, l rl per lb., .md fresli skins from 4s lod to =;s each. Leather. '1 here was an improvement at this week's sales lor harness and sole, but other descriptions wcie without alteration. Quotations — Sole 8d to nd, harness i2d to 1 id, kip 13d to i6d, tweed iBd to 25d. calf 2od to 26d per lb ; basils 6s to lis per do/en. Tallow At the sales to-day, shippers operated with freedom, and .in ndv.mcc on List week's r.ites was noticeable. Best realised up to £28 15s ; mutton m.iy be quoted .it from £2) to £30; and mixed ,£2O to per ion. Hides were in brisk icquest, both foi local use and cxpoit. H civics realised from }J,d to 4sd, medium, 3\d to l}d, and light and drj to sjd per lb Hoite Hides are saleable at from 6s to 7s 6d for large, and 3s to 5s for small to medium. Kangaroo Skins were in better demand to-day, and large sizes may be quoted at from 20s to 30s per doicn, and small to medium 10s to 18s Horns .ire in pood demand at from 20s to 30s per bundled for large, and 10s to 18s foi small to medium. Shankbcncs can be disposed of at from £6 to £10 PerP cr ton - Hair: Horsetail is worth from 13d to i6d, mane 8d to iod, and mixed nd to 13d per lb. Grain— At our sale this week there was a large attendance of millers, but the E rices realised shewed a decline of i^d per ushel on last week's rates. Best samples of wheat realised from 5s 6Jd to 5s o£d, and medium quality 4s 8d to 5s id per bushel. Flour: An easier tone now prevails in this market, consequent on late English advices, and their effect on the South Australian and Victorian markets. Business is limited to small parcels for trade requirements at Lite rates, ana nominal quotations may be given at £12 tos to £13 10s for New South Wales brands, £12 15s to 1 £141 4 for South Australian, and £1? 10s for Victorian.
