Defeat of Ayoub's Troops. Calcutta September 24.

Telegrams received from Kandahar report that a great battle was fought on Thursday last, in the neighbourhood of that city, between the armies of the Ameer and Ayoub Khan, resulting in a heavy loss on both sides, but in the ultimate defeat of Ayoub's tioops. Of the latter two regiments are said to have descvted, and Ayoub was compelled to abandon his guns and baggage, and has since fled with the remainder of his army to H erat, and the citadel of Candahar is now undefended.
