THE CAMBRIDGE SPRING MEETING.

SiiorLD the weather prove to be fine, Thursday';* racing on the Cambridge Course will unboubtedly in every respect ' bd a very successful meeting. And upon '< the weuther depends the largeness of the attendance. A large number of people " — particularly the betting fraternity • — will in all probability be present i from Auckland," as well as the settlers from the outlying W«iikato districts. Abundant means of conveyance will be at the disposal of - the public, the Steamer " Wai kato" having been advertised to run, and numerous coaches announced to ply ' between Cambridge and other places, and the course. The course is in excellent condition for racing, and if the rain keeps off heavy ground will not operate as a disadvantage against the equitable chances of the competitors. This meeting being the flxat of the season in the province, the Stewards have been doing all in their power to achieve success in every respect. By holding out every inducement to owners of hordes, in offering large .stakes, and in obtaining good blood they have been fairly successful. The programme consists of six events. The Handicap Hurdle Race, Maiden Steeplechase, Cambridge Spring Cup Handicap, Cambridge Steeplechase, Stewards Handicap, and the Consolation Handicap. The aggregate of the stakes is £213 of which £7o is given to the Cup Handicap. Ihe following are the Acceptances :— • HURDLfg. ht lb. St. lb.
