Leave was given to introduce the Public Revenues Amendment Bill on Monday. Amendments by the Acting-Governor in the Representation Bill were brought up for consideration. Mr Sheehan opposed, and moved the following amendment to the motion foxadoption: — "That this House respectfully regrets it cannot agree with His Excellency's messago for reasons following; :— 1- That the bill is one ' exclusively affecting the powers and functions, of this House. 2l That tho bill has passed this House, after long 1 and conscientious discussion, without amendment ; and has also passed the Legislative Council, and been returned to tint House by the Council, without amendment. 3. That this House passed the baid bill upon the full faith and assurance that the Bill as read would not be altered, but would become law substantially as it passed this House. 4. That all measures dealing with the members's rights or privileges of this House should originate in the House, and' Ministers, by the adoption of this course, have betrayed their trust, and h.ivc made it plain, in their opinion, that this estate of the realm is the Lower House in more seuses than one." After some further debate, the motion for the adoption of the Governor's amendments was put and carried on the voices. In Committee, several bills were considered. The Supreme Court Procedure and the Employment of Females Bills were read a third time and passed.
