Vogel on receipt of the suppressed despatch : —New Zealand, Colonial Secretary's office, Wellington, 6fch June, 1881. Sir, — lam directed to acknowledge the receipt by the last San Francisco mail of your letter of the 27th April last, directed to the Premier. The tone of this letter is so studiously offensive, and it contains so many misrepresentations and misstatements, that the Government refuse to permit it to be filed as a record of the colony, and I am therefore directed to return it to you. I am, &c, G-. S. Cooper.—Sir Juliua Vogel, K.C.M.G.
