Mr Collins followed speaking up to 4. 35 and was followed by Mr Hurathouse who spoke till 5 a.m., when the Committee adjourned to 7. 30. After the adjournment Sir George Grey spoke on various subjects and was proceeding to speatt of pensions when the Chairman ruled him otat of order. Sir G. Grey protested against such oppression. Mr S wanson spoke in support of the property vote and said a good deal of trash was written and talked about the poor man. Sir George Grey spoke in opposition to Mr Swanson's views, and contended that there should be no other franchise than the manhood one. He was going on to speak of the Council's rejection of the Law Practitioners Bill, when he was again called to order. At 10.30 p.m. the Committee adjourned for half-an-hour. On resuming, Mr Rolleston defended the Chairman against the imputations cast upou him by Sir George Grey. He was followed by Messrs Collins, Speight, Sheehan, and Reeves, the latter mti-* mating his intention to speak till 8 o'clock the next morning.
