CORRESPONDENCE. THE CAMBRIDGE JOCKEY CLUB.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — 111 your issue of the 18th instant I read a letter headed " The two Racing Clubs," and signed by "Nemesis." It is a pity the writer did not make himself better acquainted with the financial position of both , Clubs before attempting to mislead the public so IjEjs statement regarding the "Waikato Turf Club is incorrect; and with' reference to the Cambridge Jockey Club is simply untrue. The Club is not in debt one shilling ; on the contrary, it has a small balance in.hand^ The gravid stand being private property, is rented by the Club for, racing purposes at ,£Bo per^nnum. Through the considerate kindness of that good 'sportsman, Mr Fantham, the Club is.jin possessiout of one of thtjj;be3t,racecourses iin New; Zealand. . A8 if steeplechase, floury it, .has not an equal; and I trujsti', the i members of i the ijC.J.G. i will J^ve the good sense, to, r ±o| this 'excellent ground for m'any^ yeatirto come. ' 5 ' ' : A' Member o^bo^hJC^ubs.
