Steam Ssrvice. The Council to-cLiy appointed a committee to confer with a committee of the House on the subject of direct steam communication with England. Bills Advanced. The Otago University Reserves Vesting Bill was read a second time by 17 to 8. The Port Chalmers Cemetery Bill and Friendly Societies Bill were read a third time and passed. The Public Domain Bill passed through committee. The Council rose at 5.
