Tawhiao's Visit to Waikato.

Or/n correspondent writing from Ngarua--A'ahia on Tuesday, says, " Last night Ta^vhiao, Wahanui, and Rewi, with their wives, patronised an entertain meat, which I am sorry for their sake, was not of a ' very interesting nature, regarded from a native point of view. They tried to look pleased nevertheless Old Manuhiri returns from heie to Alexandra, where he will awaii the return of Tawhiao. He says, " I am satisfied with the aspect of affairs now, and will leave the younger men to carry out the rest of the programme." It is uncertain yet, whether Tawhiao will go as far as ■ Auckland, but I think that he will at least send his sons down. The down-river natives are making preparations at Motc Q r, where about 101) of them, including some from the Thames, have already assembled. Messrs. Whitaon and Sons have very kindly placed a large building which they have at Mercer, at Major Mairs disposal, and in this the natives, or the greater part of them will find accomodation. It is thought Mercer will be reached by all to-night. Tawhiao goes down by canoe, aa he is anxious again to "tread the path of his ancestors," but the main body go by train. Yesterday our correspondent writes briefly to say that the whole party arrived safely at Mercer the previous night, and were welcomed by the lower Waikato natives. An ample supply of food had been got ready, and the party were expected to remain over List nitrht. Tawhiao was greatly pleased with his reception, and expressed his admiration of the train in the highest terms.
